V. Komardenkov graduated from the Stroganov Art School in 1919
(S.Noakovski's student). One of the founders of ObMoKhu (Society of Yong
Artists. The Society, composed of students at the Moscow Free Art
Studios/VKhuTeMas). V. Komardenkov was a member of the Theatre Department of
the People's Commissariat of Education headed by V. Meyerhold. As an art
director and scene-painter he counts to his name some 70 stage productions and
30 films. He was a regular participant of the exhibitions at home and abroad (since
1919). He was awarded the Silver Medal in Paris Exhibition (1937). He made propaganda
posters for the Illiteracy-Fighting Emergency Commission. Important shows
include "First Russian Art Exhibition" (Berlin, 1922). He
acquired a professorship and during 1945-1973 taught at Painting Sub-Department
in the Moscow Industrial Art College (former Stroganov School). His works are exhibited
in The Tretyakov's Gallery, The Russian Museum, other
galleries and private collections.
