Taras G. Gaponenko

1906, village Staraya Zavoron (Smolenskaya province) - 1993, Moscow

T. Gaponenko studied in Vkhutein in  Moscow (1924-1930) under the tutelage of P.V. Kuznetsov, V.A Favorsky, N.M. Chernyshev, his degree work being "The Haymaking". He was a member of the OMAKhR (the Junior Members' Organization under the AKhR (1928-1929) and the AKhR (1929-1931). He participated in various exhibitions since 1928 (Moscow). He was awarded a Golden Medal at the World Exhibition in Paris (1937). He contributed to the carrying out of monumental decorative design works (wall-paintings of the communal center house of "The Proletary" plant in Moscow - 1930, panel "Notable Persons of the Soviet Country" for the Soviet Pavilion at the World Exhibition in New York -  1939). His is the book "Monumental Painting, It's Past and Present" (M, 1931). T.G. Gaponenko is a People's Artist of the USSR, a corresponding member of the Russian  Academy of Arts, a laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1954). The works of the artist are located in the State Tretyakov's Gallery, in the museums of this country and in private collections.   

Гапоненко Тарас Гурьевич

Учился во Вхутеине в Москве (1924-1930) у Кузнецова П.В., Фаворского В.А., Чернышева Н.М., дипломная работа - «Сенокос». Был членом ОМАХР (1928-1929) и АХР (1929-1931). Участник выставок с 1928 (Москва). Золотая медаль на Всемирной выставке в Париже (1937). Участвовал в выполнении монументально-декоративных работ (роспись клуба завода «Пролетарий» в Москве - 1930, панно «Знатные люди Страны Советов» для Советского павильона на Всемирной выставке в Нью-Йорке - 1939). Автор книги «Монументальная живопись в ее прошлом и настоящем» (М., 1931). Гапоненко Т. Г. - народный художник  СССР, член-корреспондент Российской Академии Художеств,  лауреат Государственной премии СССР (1954). Работы художника находятся в ГТГ, в музеях страны и частных коллекциях.
